Chapter 7: The Throat Chakra

The Throat Chakra emits blue power and is touted as the communication power station. It processes all incoming and outgoing messages. This chakra is the voice behind your truths and opinions. A person who wants to harness the power of the Throat Chakra must be able to review issues about their ability to express their beliefs and themselves. You must be able to determine if you have the ability to trust other people and not doubt them. Furthermore, you must ascertain your planning and organizations skills. You must be able to separate from old family commitments, beliefs, and values with regards to responsibility. Lastly, you mustn’t be shy to express your views and beliefs.

The Throat Chakra will be stimulated and its blue energy will be put into good use if the person engages in meaningful conversations; art or stamp collecting; poetry; toning; singing in the shower; and attending to spiritual or church functions. You can also take self-development courses. As an exercise, you can do shoulder and neck rolls. You can also take up journaling. Since the chakra’s color is blue, the person can also eat and drink blue-colored foods and drinks. Aromatherapy oils to use are cypress, mint, peppermint, chamomile, and geranium. Good repetitive music like the sounds of ocean wave and echoes are also great choices. The individual can also carry or wear blue gemstones like blue agate, sapphire, lapis lazuli, and sodalite. You can use the blue color in art, color bath, décor, and clothing.

The Sanskrit name for the Throat Chakra is Visuddha. The chakra resides in the throat region and is responsible for the truthful expression of a person and their beliefs. It is also associated with planning, organization, loyalty, and an individual’s ability to trust. If there’s an imbalance in the Throat Chakra, it can manifest itself through hyperactivity, thyroid imbalances, fevers, swollen glands, infections, and problems in the organs near the throat. The Throat Charka is located at the base of the throat. It controls the hands, arms, neck, and the throat. It is associated with the cervical or brachial plexus. The related endocrine gland is the thyroid gland.

The Throat Chakra is concerned about receiving and expressing. In expressing, it can be through communicating what a person feels and wants. It can also be through an artistic expression like playing music, dancing, or painting. It can be anything which can bring what is within to the outside. Receiving is related to expressing and can be better explained through the expression, “Ask and you shall receive.”

The Throat Chakra deals with communication and self-expression. If it is open, the person can express themselves easily. Usually, a person with an open Throat Chakra is very artistic. If it’s under-active, you may be shy and not talk a lot. If a person is prone to lying, the chakra will be blocked. A person with an overactive Throat Chakra is very talkative and often annoys people. They can also be a bad listener.
